Position Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Field Site Manager and technically to the Senior HIS Officer, the Health Information Systems Officer will be responsible for collecting health and nutrition data from health facilities supported by International Medical Corps. They are expected to generate weekly, monthly, quarterly, and as-needed statistical reports for program follow-up and monitoring purposes. The officer will also participate in program monitoring and supervisory activities to ensure the delivery of high-quality services. Updating the District Health Information System tool regularly and maintaining the Indicator Program Tracking Tables for review by the health program manager are also key responsibilities.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support health facility managers in data collection at the facility level.
  • Enter weekly/monthly collected data accurately.
  • Conduct facility-level validity and accuracy checks to ensure data quality in the system.
  • Perform weekly data checks to ensure accuracy and consistency of data in health facility registers.
  • Provide refresher trainings to health staff on data collection and management.
  • Generate weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to monitor program performance.
  • Attend HIMS meetings and provide feedback to improve data quality.
  • Develop and distribute data collection tools to health facilities.
  • Conduct monthly review of registers and forms from health facilities to ensure accuracy and quality.
  • Conduct regular visits to health facilities to identify gaps in timeliness and quality of data reporting, and collaborate with relevant staff to address the gaps.
  • Provide training and follow-up mentoring to health facility staff to ensure the quality of data collection procedures in all health facilities.
  • Organize quarterly data review meetings with the support of the Senior HIS Officer and Health Program Manager to monitor program progress.
  • Perform any other tasks as requested by the line manager.
  • Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within International Medical Corps and amongst beneficiaries served by International Medical Corps.
  • Promote and encourage a culture of compliance and ethics throughout International Medical Corps.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s qualification in Information Technology or related courses with at least 2 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Health background preferred but not essential.
  • Skills in DHIS, HMIS, and data management.
  • At least 2 years of experience in health data collection and management.
  • Data analysis and report writing skills.
  • Health information system knowledge and skills.
  • Experience in conducting qualitative and quantitative surveys.
  • Computer literacy with working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel), MIS, HIS, SPSS.
  • Previous International Medical Corps experience desirable.
