Position Summary

Communication with Communities: CWC:

  • Conduct visits to the field to create linkages with other actors in the site to ensure all site residents are informed about services and information is shared across the different community groups.  
  • Identify various topics for mass information campaigns and support the designing of the information products. 
  • Conduct regular awareness sessions with keeping the record as per the Means of verification (MoU) outlined in the project.  
  • Support Complaints Feedback mechanism to ensure accountability to affected population. 
  • Establish, maintain, and actively utilize networks of key informants at IDP sites.
  • Ensure regular updating of the existing Notice boards in consultation with the community communities.

Liaison & coordination

  • Represent DRC with communities, local authorities, site partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain mutually respectful relationships with site management, service providers, local authorities, IDP community members as well as host community members.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with local authorities at site level to facilitate implementation of activities.
  • Assess existing formal and informal community structures and create linkages with the community committee members.

Site management

  • Establish & train representative and inclusive community-based site management committees at sites.
  • Monitor sites to identify needs, gaps in service provision, and duplication of efforts at IDP sites.
  • Plan, support, and organize social cohesion building activities at IDP sites.
  • Establish Referral Mechanism in the sites. 
  • Support implementation of community led projects including idea brainstorming, finalizing small projects in coordination with the CCCM manager, monitoring progress and impact of the implementation.

Capacity building

  • Support the Camp Management team in organizing capacity building trainings for community committee members
  • Train site committees in site monitoring and site management 
  • Actively participate in development and implementation of protection and gender mainstreaming

Information management

  • Regular analysis of new arrivals in the sites 
  • Support in the timely registration of IDPs, including identification of protection related needs.
  • Provide information for database of service and needs related information for each site.
  • Support inputs for cluster led monthly site monitoring tools.

Other duties

  • Assist other DRC teams with conducting assessments, distributions, and sectorial activities.
  • Support the team to prioritize site infrastructure work including taking lead in needs assessment through the engagement of community, monitoring progress, regular following up. 
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Camp management manager in order to advance DRC’s interventions.

About you

To be successful in this role you must have:

Experience and technical competencies:

  • Minimum two years of work experience in the CCCM sector
  • Excellent skills in establishing, building, and negotiating relationships and social networks.
  • Excellent ability to understand the needs of displaced persons.
  • Basic conceptual understanding of gender, protection, and human rights
  • Good representation, negotiation, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Strong team spirit and ability to work comfortably in multi-cultural contexts.
  • Experience with using basic software, such as MS Word and Excel
  • Ability to write daily/weekly reports.
  • Ability to spend extended periods of time in field conditions.
  • Ability to come up with innovative solutions to unexpected and challenging problems.

Required qualifications: 

Education :

  • University Degree in areas relevant to, Community Organizations, Education, Humanitarian Work, and Humanitarian Protection. 

Languages:

  • Professional fluency in spoken and written Arabic, and fluency in English at moderate level is desirable.
