Job Description

Position Summary
We are looking for Senior Protection Officer to perform the following responsibilities:
Technical
- Monitor the progress of all protection activities for Al-Turba office in a monthly basis.
- Support the protection team on reporting, reviewing and editing their monthly reports, then share it with the protection manager.
- Supporting Oxfam’ local partners, specifically the protection partners and build their capacities on the protection work and other related fields or technical areas.
- Cover the protection manager position when needed.
- Enhance the capacity of protection staff in protection SOPs and related guidelines.
- Supporting the protection manager in developing, writing proposals and reviewing and finalizing reports including (monthly and donors reports)
- Works independently, making decisions and problem solving on routine, new and complex issues/problems, which are often highly unpredictable in type, content, or circumstances
Programme Implementation
- Archiving all needed protection supporting documents under each project in the box folders.
- Follow up with protection team in implementation protection activities in a daily basis.
- Build the capacity of community-based protection networks.
- Attend the protection cluster and sub-cluster monthly meetings.
- Fill the gap in field locations if needed.
- Coordinate with third parties providing protection services to Oxfam such as training companies, legal consultants and other services consultancy agencies.
- Prepare and raise request orders for needed protection services
- and follow-up with all logistic requests.
- Meetings local authorities and other service providers when needed to facilitate the implementation of protection activities.
- Support Oxfam’s partners in implementation protection activities.
Advocacy and Research:
- Support protection-related advocacy researches and surveys in coordination with the Protection manager and the Policy team.
- Support the media team in producing protection videos.
Coordination and communication:
- Build and maintain good communication and close collaboration with the Oxfam program teams, local partners, and authorities, in order to contribute to a coordinated humanitarian response.
- Liaise with logistic and procurement to ensure protection activities have the required resources at time, and complete and keep records of the necessary paperwork.
- Attend the protection cluster meetings and other sub cluster meetings.
- Develop and update relevant Information, Education and Communication tools (leaflets, brochures, posters etc.) required, with support of the Programme Manager and Protection Coordinator.
MEAL and reporting
- Produce regular protection updates and field visit reports
- Organize and prepare regular protection risk analysis
- Contribute in Sitreps, biweekly/monthly reports, donor reports and proposals.
- Support and coordinate with MEAL team for baseline survey, post-distribution and other monitoring activities.
- Ensure MEAL processes are engendered and include protection to ensure learning and protection issues are captured
- Enhance that the community and beneficiaries are aware of Oxfam Feedback and complaints mechanism
- Other duties and responsibilities requested by the line manager
What we are looking for
Our next Senior Protection Officer should meet the following requirements:
- University degree in a relevant discipline (social science, psychology or any other relevant education profile).
- Four years of technical experience in protection, GBV, CP and CBP approach.
- Experience and knowledge on cash for protection
- Good understanding and knowledge protection concerns, including GBV issues in displacement, human rights, and international humanitarian law, do no harm, conflict sensitivity principles and ICRC standards and ethics for protection work.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, particularly in networking, training and working with communities, local civil society, partners and local authorities. Fluency levels of spoken and written in English and Arabic.
