SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the WASH Officer, the WASH Assistant (Mechanical Engineer ) will be responsible for assessing the Mechanical Engineering works, and will be asked to follow-up on the preparation and implementation of an identified initiative. In this respect, the WASH Assistant ( Mechanical Engineer )  is expected to do site visits in order to deliver the below

RESPONSIBILITIES

The “WASH Assistant ( Mechanical Engineer )” will be responsible but not limited to:

1- Provide Mechanical technical support to ADRA WASH team related to mechanical engineering works, such as selecting the type and the capacity of the water pumps and solar power system designs.

2- Develop detailed bill of quantities (BOQ) and drawings for the mechanical engineering works required in the targeted Health care facility and Water Points Rehabilitations.

3- Prepare all required tender documents, including:

  • The tender drawing for Mechanical items including any required detail.
  • All required specification related to Mechanical items including equipment (if necessary).
  • The general /specific condition of contract in line with ADRA procurements procedures.
  • The calculation note needed to any design requirement related to Mechanical trade.
  • To specify which design code will follow.
  • Assist ADRA WASH team during the design phase to choose the type and quality of materials to be used in the project.

4- When it is found necessary, the WASH Assistant (Mechanical Engineer) will be requested to Follow-up technically on the implementation of the identified projects by assisting the WASH engineering unit in the review of the contractor submittals.

5- The WASH Assistant (Mechanical Engineer) shall provide all the necessary documents that the ADRA requests in order to have a complete set of tender documents.

6- Ensure Contractors are compliant with ADRA and donor polices safety and security protocols on all construction /rehabilitated sites.

7- Ensure that contractors maintain proper inventory control systems of commodities/goods transactions.

8- Provide training to all relevant beneficiaries (Heath care workers, daily laborer’s and beneficiaries) to ensure that the water committee management have a clear understanding of the operation and maintenance of all Mechanical works.

9- The WASH Assistant (Mechanical Engineer) will be the most responsible engineer to receive all of the mechanical equipments and Tools such as Water Pumps, Generators, Solar system and Solar pumping system …. etc

10- With support from the WASH Officer, develop, implement and monitor monthly activity plans to achieve expected results

11- Support in data entry, documentation and the preparation of documents.

12- Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the Direct Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical engineering, or related field is required.
  • Minimum One year of direct experience in WASH Assistant (Mechanical Engineer) Positions, preferably in humanitarian NGOs.
  • At least 1 year experience in an infrastructure project .
  • Experience in design, planning and implementation of water supply/Sewer networks.
  • Ability to maintain performance expectations in psychologically stressful environments and physical hardship conditions with limited resources.
  • Professional in using AutoCAD software.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, in particular).
  • Personal qualities: excellent verbal and written communication, accuracy and attention to detail, self-motivated, enthusiastic, professional and understands and believes in humanitarian principles.
  • Committed, responsible and ability try to learn.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines under minimal supervision
  • Extremely flexible and have the ability to cope with stressful environment.
  • Excellent  English and Arabic Languages (Writing and speaking) are required.
