Position Summary
Objective 1, Collect data / information about the water sources, schools, health facilities and sanitation facilities and the lists of beneficiaries up to date.
Activities.
Main Tasks :
- Participate actively in feasibility study of wash needs and impact assessment and/or pre and post implementation technical sanitary surveys and KAP surveys.
- Participate during formation and training of water Committee.
- Input and up-date beneficiary data for the water point and sanitation facility and etc
- Prepare lists and beneficiary/distribution cards.
- Ensure adherence to selection and targeting criteria.
Objective 2: Construction/Rehabilitation of WaSH facility Supervision.
Main Tasks:
- Supervise the construction/rehabilitation of water points, institutional and household latrines and others.
- Properly manage the casual labours at field.
- Carry out technical quality control of constructed facilities and and efficient material usage.
- Manage the advancement of the work within agreed timeframes
- Ensure work is completed as agreed within the contract.
- Prepare the Detailed Engineering Design, including all drawings, specifications and supporting calculations and documentation for the Project submitted by the Contractor.
- Coordinates, organizes, and directs the activities of project participants.
- Prepares supplies and equipment inventories; purchases materials as needed,
- Prepare the regular activities progress update reports on the construction and rehabilitation works in the field using monitoring formats on regular bases.
Objective 3 : Supervise the team
Main Tasks:
- Train and supervise the wash committee (WC) on operation and maintenance of facility.
- Draw up a planning of the team’s work schedule according to assigned tasks ;
- Provide technical support to the team,(casual labours)
Objective 4 : Represent the Organization when dealing with partners:
Activities:
- Meet local stakeholders, keep them informed about the programme,
- Act as a link between the organization and the beneficiaries
- Liaise with the authorities, committees and other beneficiaries ;
- Maintain good relations between the team and the target population.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the WASH Program Management to advance ACF’s work
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications Needed BSc in civil engineering with at least two years relevant professional experience in the WASH field preferably with international organizations
Required Skills WASH Rapid Assessment & Technical Sanitary Surveys; Professional Designs using engineering programs,Team management and activity planning – computer and GPS literacy – Ability to communicate with local people – Flexibility – Dynamism – Good organizational qualities and communication skills– Good report writing and interpersonal skills – Good knowledge of the intervention area –Experience in Wash in Emergency & in health facilities, water schemes, development would be a distinct advantage
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- At least two years relevant professional experience in the WASH field preferably with international organization.
- Capability to appraise water supply and sanitation facilities determining current status, needs/gaps, improvements needed,
- Professional skill in needs identification, costs estimation and BoQs preparation,
- Skills in excel analysis and data base management,
- Proven skills in building relationships with stakeholders at the community level,
ESSENTIAL
- Proven ability to manage a team.
- Good report writing and interpersonal skills
- Experience in WaSH in Emergency intervetions.
PREFERRED
- Good Knowledge of the project area.
